Who is WTRCAT?
When Port Arthur Rotary member Warren Philp learned of City plans for a largely unfunded Waterfront Trail multi-million dollar expansion, he brought many Thunder Bay active living groups together to talk about a trail association, and by July 2021, the Waterfront Trail Rotary Community Action Team (WTRCAT) was formed. WTRCAT is a community-backed voice advocating for the development of key pieces of Thunder Bayโs proposed Waterfront Trail expansion. Members meet to discuss and make recommendations regarding the proposed trail expansion, to organize trail clean-up, to educate citizens about the proposed trail and its benefits, and to participate in Council sessions to advocate for trails.
Part of Community Service in the Port Arthur Rotary Club (which is currently attaining charitable status), WTRCAT will focus on fundraising events and sponsorships to expedite and enhance trail development.
The Waterfront Trail Rotary Community Action Team gives interested and willing community members a place to add their voices, provide important feedback, volunteer time and skills, and help with financial support.
WTRCAT Team Membership
Many groups and organizations in Thunder Bay want a Waterfront Trail and have joined WTRCAT to work together to promote, advocate, and raise funds.
